Research Focus: Research in the Nolan lab is focused on using quantitative measurement tools for the multiplexed and multiparameter measurement of cells and molecules. We integrate chemistry, nanoengineering, and instrument development to develop approaches that have a broad range of applications in biology and medicine. Our current biological targets include the antigen-specific immune responses to vaccination and infection, ligand-receptor interactions on and in cells, and cell-derived membrane vesicles that are shed and secreted from cells. In 2013, The National Institute of Biological Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) of National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded more than $6.4 million for the continuation of the Bioengineering Research Partnership (BRP) Raman Flow Cytometry for Drug Discovery and Diagnostics.

We are extremely excited to welcome Professor Nolan to the Scintillon Team! Dr. Nolan is bringing his lab from the La Jolla Bioengineering Institute to join our Scintillon team. His research focus on cytometry will add an exciting new dimension to the research possibilities at the Scintillon Institute.
